As the title of this blog suggests, I’m a materials scientist. I live and work in California, USA. I have a day job – industrial scientist. The evening job – adjunct professor. I also do a bit of consulting, some volunteering, and lot reading. My reading is almost exclusively non-fiction. Common topics include politics, philosophy, economics, history, and religion.
My favorite movie is Pi by Darren Aronofsky. My favorite band is the Pixies.
Politically – I’m conflicted – I’m a social liberal, fiscal conservative. Things I lose sleep about: The environment, the national debt, global poverty, religious fundamentalism. Things that lift my spirits: Hiking, friends, travel, poker, good food, a strong Malbec.
